elegance ensemble, colour the world

It was such a dark, dreary day out today, not to mention cold - the last fleeting glimpses of summer are definitely over with. Looking through some past pictures, I found these: me sporting my romper (featured here) for the final time this year. I searched and searched for the perfect playsuit throughout the summer months, and I finally settled on this one, found in a cute Victoria boutique. I loved the bright colours and the scattered pattern; it also has an open back, which just sealed the deal for me - I love different, intricate backs. They add that little extra something. So here's an outfit post during the final hours of sunshine and sandal-appropriate weather - I hope it brightens your day!

Don't hang up your romper in the back of your closet just yet, because there are so many cute ways to wear it for the autumn months. Paired with leggings, a patterned scarf, and a neutral blazer is a comfortable, chic way to wear a playsuit during the day - shown perfectly by the effortless Alexa Chung. To glam up your look, Kate Moss shows that wearing a romper with black tights, a fitted black jacket and black stilettos is the perfect combination for a night on the town.

i left my heart in paris

Instead of doing a fashion week recap, I wanted to do a mixture of all things Paris. It's the most beautiful city I have ever been to, from the metro, to the shopping, to the amazing crêperies and bakeries. I was in awe of the tall, slender, fashionable people that roamed the streets, cigarette in one hand and shopping bag in the other. I bought my first pair of slouchy leather boots in a random boutique and I have worn them into the ground. And the romance! There's definitely a reason why it's the city of love. Love hangs on every whisper, every macaron eaten, and every picture taken of the Eiffel Tower. So here's an inspiration post of all things Parisian to me: images, locations, the 90th anniversary of Vogue Paris, and of course Paris Fashion Week. Plus a little 'grade ten magic' from when I took my trip to the City of Lights! Wow my hair was long. What are your favourite Parisian moments?

all bundled up for fall

There was that immediate shock that hit me this weekend when I stepped out of my house in flip flops, jeans, and a light sweater (originally as kind of a screw you, autumn) and realized that it was cold. My toes were less than thrilled - fall has definitely hit Vancouver at full force. Despite the sunshine, the temperature has dropped, which means my fall wardrobe will finally be put to good use. What I'm finding that I can't get enough of this season are warm, chic jackets to combat the chill in the air. Whether it's walking to work, school, or a lunch date with a friend, I believe that a basic jacket (or two, or three... or ten) really make an outfit. Here are some of my picks for the autumn - and soon to be winter - seasons, from prices of high to low to find the perfect match.

fashion week recap, milan

School has been absolutely crazy these past two weeks (ever since my birthday put me behind on a lot of readings I should've done) but I really wanted to finish up my fashion week recaps for the Spring/Summer 2011 collections. Milan was a great mixture of tailored and whimsical. I loved the playfulness with bold colours, but I also loved the neutrals, as always. Two of my favourites were Bottega Veneta and Emporio Armani - the collections are so wearable, yet bold and unique. I'm always amazed at what designers come up with, and how sometimes the simplest of outfits make the biggest impact. Fellow Canadian designers Dean and Dan Caten's line DSquared2 was one collection that completely blew me away - I had a hard time choosing just two outfits to showcase! Although, I'm loving the long, fierce gauze-like gowns of Roberto Cavalli just as much. Keep reading for the final installment, and my favourite place in the whole world: Paris!
