lovely weekend inspiration

This just in: I actually read something in my textbook and applied it to my actual life. I'm still in a little bit of shock! I made a huge 'oopsie' this semester and bought - and read 4 chapters of - the wrong book for my health class. So, I've been playing catch-up this weekend, and I read a section on stress-reducers. One of them was so simple: have a clean, organized desk. I am usually an organized person at heart, or at least I try to be, but I have papers and books everywhere. So, I moved everything into my Mom's office in our den which she recently evacuated this year. I got myself a unit to file all of my assignments, and a cupboard to hold my textbooks and printed PDF files. And you know what? I feel so good. I feel like my mind is de-cluttered and I have this nice open (and quiet!) space to work. Plus it's right next to the kitchen so I can always sneak a quick cup of tea if I need it!

In celebration of my new-found office space, I thought I'd share a bit of what has inspired me this weekend, other than my health textbook. These blogs make me smile on a daily basis and it makes me just love being a part of the blogger community. Enjoy, and I hope you all have a cozy, lovely weekend!

elegance ensemble, boot obsession

I'm going to come right out and admit it - I am thoroughly, one hundred percent obsessed with boots. I counted, and I have around fifteen pairs that I wear fairly often. I don't know if that number is a lot to some of you (I'm know there are crazy boot enthusiasts out there!), but when I lined up my boot collection I literally laughed out loud. It's ridiculous! I find it funny though that I've showcased these two-toned Zara boots here, here and here. I guess that explains why, and how much, I love them: one word, versatility. I can wear them with just about anything, whether it's casual or dressy. And due to the abnormal amount of times I have worn them, they have moulded perfectly to my little feet and fit like a dream. What is your boot collection like? And I hope you're all looking forward to the weekend. I will be up to my ears in homework and drinking gallons of Vanilla Almond tea, but I guess that's just the life of a University student!

a parisian accessory dream

While browsing my fashion blogroll, instead of doing my school readings (oops), I came across this gorgeous lookbook for Maison Michel SS11, a paris-based accessory line. Featuring beautiful faces such as Anja Rubik, Karolina Kurkova, Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Leigh Lezark, Lou Doillion, Mark Ronson, and Frida Gustavsson, I don't know how any picture could not be beautiful. Oh, and as the cherry on top, it was shot by the one and only Karl Lagerfeld. That man is incredible. The colours, the jewels, the bows, the floppy hats... It is safe to say that I am in love with Maison Michel! And on another exciting note, I was on Global News BC today! In the video titled huge drug bust under the News Hour section you can watch Meagan and I sounding oh-so-educated (like good little SFU students) and being asked questions about ketamine. We're just so fashionable they had to interview us ;)

where the sun is warm and the air is cold

A couple weeks ago I got to spend a weekend in beautiful Sun Peaks, which for you out-of-towner's is about an hour outside of Kamloops. It has that Whistler-feel to it, but without the crazy crowds and commercial stores. And the best part? I got to spend time with my amazing boyfriend and his family. Don't we look cute and matchy-matchy in our spray-paint snowboard jackets? So, my mom is a big worrier and always makes me promise to wear a helmet - I guess she knew what she was talking about this time! I was so excited to get out on the mountain and, of course, halfway down the first run I bail right on to my wrist. Ouch. It was like that ridiculous searing pain all through my arm. I thought it was broken, but thank goodness it was just a minor sprain. At least it wasn't my head.. A little ice and some wrist guards and I was good to go! The sun came out both days and it snowed over night; we couldn't have asked for better weather. It was definitely just what I needed to relax, clear my head, and spend quality time with some great people. And also to try out some of my winter outfits! Is it crazy that I'm secretly hoping for a giant snowfall in Vancouver sometime soon?

style discovery, elisa sednaoui

I've been hearing a lot of buzz about Elisa Sednaoui, and after looking through her forum on TFS, I just fell in love with her effortless and natural-looking style. A mix of Italian, Egyptian, and French, this stylish lady could already speak five languages by the time she was seven. No wonder she has that certain glow about her - this model/actress has had an amazing career. Just recently she starred in the short film Remember Now directed by Karl Lagerfeld, and in 2010 she became the face of Diane von Furstenberg. To top it off, her godfather is the one and only red-soled Christian Louboutin. Let's just say I'm a teensy bit envious of this gorgeous girl! In terms of her fashion sense, I love how she leaves her hair loose and her outfits playful, never trying too hard. Her smile is stunning, and she looks so comfortable in her own skin. If that wasn't enough, in a quote to Vogue for their Rising Star story, she says, "I don't want to know what the future will be. I want to live it." Down to earth and flawless, Elisa Sednaoui is definitely on my new fashion-watch list.

elegance ensemble, pearls and twirls

Looking back at these pictures, I look like a giddy little girl. But that's the fun of fashion sometimes, right? I just love being able to dress girly, and I think this is one of my favourites - ruffles, pearls, hearts, bows, and embellishment calls for some joyful spins and twirls in the SFU parking lot. I guess this post doesn't really have a point. I can go on and on about school, but the best thing about today is that I got to see and spend time with great girls. Today was apparently the most depressing day of the year (hello VISA bills and mid-month blues) but, surprisingly, I felt happy. Despite the usual emotional mess that I can be at times - okay, I admit, at all times - getting things out into the open and talking to people about what's going on really helps. I hope your Monday was full of pleasant surprises to take you through the week ahead!
