a day for mamma mia

For me, my mom is one of the most important people in my life. She may drive me crazy, but she inspires me to be a better person every day. This Mother's Day is coming up soon and I think it's the perfect time to show our mama's some gratitude for all the times they've given us advice, supported our dreams, and told us the truth that no one else could say - "Yes, those jeans do make your legs look bigger, dear." Find out what your mom is interested in and make the gift come from the heart. The presents that my mom has loved the most haven't costed much; usually, she gets teary eyed from the card. I always try to buy her something that she wouldn't buy herself. If your mom loves fashion, gardening, tea, cooking, or jewelry, there is an endless amount of gift options. I just fell in love with everything from Anthropologie's Mother's Day Gift Guide; isn't that apron gorgeous for the upcoming Summer months? Happy Wednesday everyone, and make sure to show your mama how much you love her on May 8th!

i may be poor but i have pretty clothes

I did some major damage when I went shopping downtown Vancouver the other day. My bank account is angry, my debit card has been exercised to exhaustion, and my feet were literally begging me to sit down. But it felt so good to spend money. Such a great treat to celebrate the end to all the stress and worries that go along with University. I thought you might be interested in my pretty purchases, so I laid them out nicely to give you a sneak peak. I made sure to stick to things that I needed: colours, patterns, accessories, and of course a bit of white (I can't shy away from neutrals, I can't!). It actually makes me happy looking at this photo. Who knew shopping could bring such joy?

Contrary to my goal of always wearing patterns or colours this Spring, I couldn't help but go all neutral on my trip downtown. So be prepared for tan, cream, light pink, nude, and white. But I did add a bright lip shade and a yellow bag to bring in a little bit of colour. Apparently tomorrow Vancouver temperatures are supposed to reach the 20s! This is good news for my Spring wardrobe. Have a great weekend everyone!

hats off to a perfect four months

Handing in my final paper of the semester was such a good feeling. Officially completed my second year of University and now I can sit back, relax, and enjoy four whole months of no school. It's nice to have no commitments or deadlines, just working and catching up with friends. I'm making it a goal of mine to be more adventurous this Summer, and also to start dancing again. I had to give it up for school two years ago and I miss it more than ever. I'll also be reading (for pleasure, not textbooks!) and first up on my list is The Happiness Project followed by Eat Pray Love. There's just been so many things on my mind lately, so today I spent a good couple hours chatting with Meagan over Starbucks. There is nothing about that girl or a caramel macchiato that can't cheer me up. Tonight it's dinner with the boy, and tomorrow it's a trip downtown followed by a date with two best friends that I haven't seen in so long. My summer vacation is already off to such a great start! Now all I need is for Vancouver to make up its mind about the weather. Happy Tuesday everyone.

a little taste of mexico

Three weeks until I jet off to Mexico and I could not be more excited! Instead of finishing my last final take-home exam (oops) I decided to search around for some beach and summer-inspired photos, which led me to creating a little inspiration board of a few Mexican essentials. On the top of my list: a crochet dress, floppy hats, and cute sunnies. Yes, please! I'm starting to feel like it's summer already by not really caring about this last paper. Can you blame me? It's been such a long semester and I am so ready to sleep in, catch up with friends, go to my yoga class, and work. I really need to make some money to compensate for the amount of shopping I'm about to do. It's going to be so great. Haul post coming up, for sure. I hope you all had an amazing weekend, and enjoy the sunshine Vancouverites!

i'm here darling to enjoy the party

In the next couple months it's going to feel like one big celebration. I have so many events going on and birthday's to attend - not to mention, Mexico! - that I needed a little party dress inspiration. With finals over soon and the weather finally starting to warm up, I'm looking for dresses that can look great with a blazer and flats, but also transfer into nighttime with a sky high pair of heels and a bold lip colour. Browsing my favourite online stores I just couldn't help but fall in love with almost everything I set my eyes on... I think this is due to my lack of retail therapy. I have a funny feeling that my shopping cravings are going to take over soon, leading straight to a happy Chelle and a sad bank account. The first birthday celebration is coming up tomorrow, complete with appy's and drinks followed by a night of dancing. I'm going to just ignore the fact that I have a final paper due Monday. I'm sure reality will hit in the morning, but until then, it's time to have a little fun! Enjoy the weekend, lovelies.

fast forward to warmer weather

It. Is. Finals. Week. And I may or may not be going a little bit crazy with the amount of work I have to do and the amount of sleep that I am absolutely not getting. Although I don't know if I can really complain too much, because there is a light shining very brightly at the end of exams, which translates into Mexico. Ahhh. Warm weather, beautiful beaches, and piƱa coladas all day. It will be a much deserved vacation, I can tell you that. Accompanying me is my fashionista in crime Love From Meagan who is not only one of my closest friends but she is becoming quite the little photographer. We took a few minutes out of our essay-writing time to snap a few shots. This is the first time wearing my beautiful new heels and I am just as in love with them as I was when I bought them last month. My pale pink blazer is a hand-me-down from my Mom and it is one of my favourite pieces for making the transformation to Spring weather. Light and structured but also comfortable and warm enough to shield from a chill in the air. Pairing it with a yellow crossbody bag, I definitely had pastel shades on my mind. For all the other University students trudging through finals, a big good luck. It'll all be over soon! At least, I keep telling myself that. Happy Wednesday!

just walking on sunshine

Finally I woke up to the sun shining through my window this morning. It was so beautiful out, and although multiple things went wrong, nothing could bring me down on this Spring day. This is the April I've been looking forward to! I really wanted to incorporate colour into my outfit today, so I took a flowy dress from H&M and turned it into a skirt (I think this is one of my new favourite things to do). Paired with a delicate blouse and a boyfriend blazer, I just loved the overall effect. I went back to my dance roots and wore ballerina flats - seriously, the most comfortable flats I've ever bought - and I thought the outfit warranted a few twirls. My camera ran out of batteries at school, so I set up my tripod when I got home and I couldn't help but have fun spinning around in my backyard. It was surprisingly therapeutic after a disastrous mark on a paper I wrote. Finals week is coming up, but I'm trying not to stress... so for now, happy Wednesday!

dreaming of springtime

I really need a Monday pick-me-up, and coffee is just not going to cut it on this dreary day in Vancouver. It's rainy, cold, and all-around miserable! My Spring clothes are grumbling at me from my closet as I am reverting back to my warm cozy sweaters and winter boots. This should not be happening in April! While I wait for the sunshine to arrive (hopefully later on this week), I was browsing one of my go-to blogs, Fashion Gone Rogue, and came across some amazing Spring-inspired campaigns. I can't wait for bright colours, wavy hair, and the whole relaxed attitude that Spring and Summer bring. Especially with all the stores carrying shorts, florals, and pretty lightweight dresses, it is impossible for me to wrap my head around winter wear anymore. I want no worries, no torrential rain, just loveliness. Is that too much to ask? I sincerely hope your Monday was more cheery than mine. I'm hoping a get together with some best friends is going to put a smile on my face. And when the weather clears up, I promise there will be more outfit posts! For now, enjoy a little springtime inspiration.

tied pretty like a bow

Even though I spent the majority of my Friday at school (that should never, ever happen), I finally, finally, got to go shopping this week! It was a much deserved trip to the mall with my boyfriend and we both left with a few beautiful items. I bought a sky-high pair of red patent heels and made the mistake of wearing them out dancing... Someone stomped on my foot and ripped the patent material in the process, reducing me (almost) to tears. I'm taking the poor heel to the shoe repairman tomorrow. I'm hoping for a miracle! I'm planning on doing a lovely haul post next week to showcase my purchases. Although, what I'm lusting over right now are simple, pretty bows. I love accessorizing an outfit with a bow to give it that girlish element. I was just having fun compiling images when all of a sudden three bow-inspired outfits took shape, and I loved the result. A little weekend inspiration for you all!
