twenties girl

Usually I feel like my birthday is just another day; a day where I get to smile a lot, wear a pretty dress, and act a little bit selfish (and get away with it). This year, it feels weird and... different. I'm not a teenager anymore. I haven't felt like a 'teenager' for a while, but actually making the transition into my twenties caused a lot of reflection on my teen years. I feel like I've grown up so much this past year, and I'm ready to start a whole new chapter. My twenties will hold some of the most influential moments in my life - moving out on my own, graduating University, travelling, to name a few. And I'm excited. I never thought I'd be excited to be old, but I am. A little sad, too, but mostly looking forward to what I'm sure will be some of the best years of my life. Happy birthday to.. me! And Gwyneth, Avril, Google, and anyone else who was born on September 27th!

My boy was the best man at an absolutely gorgeous wedding on Sunday, held at Brix Restaurant. Such a fun weekend of meeting new people and drinking (a lot) of red wine. I'm just happy I didn't spill any on my dress, which I bought at H&M a couple months back. I had my hair done at Blo Dry Bar in Yaletown (which was exactly what I wanted), and my makeup was done by my beautiful best friend Kelly Campbell.

falling head over heels

This morning the sky was gray and raindrops were falling, a sure sign that the autumn months are on their way. I have a bit of free time this week before life gets really hectic so I thought I'd make a trip downtown for a little shopping. I'm so excited for fall fashion and I am definitely ready to spend a few dollars to update my wardrobe. I thought I'd share some of my top picks on my wishlist this season; if only these beautiful items ended up in my closet, I would be a happy girl!

hot pink and waterfalls

Dress (as shirt), H&M | Skirt, Zara | Belt, Nine West
Heels, Charlotte Russe | Sally Hansen 'Mint Sprint' Nail Colour

I was up in Whistler quite a bit this Summer and finally had a chance to take some photos. On the drive up there we stopped at Shannon Falls; it was so gorgeous but a little dangerous! You'll notice there aren't many photos with my heels as I climbed barefoot over rocks and logs (on the insistance of my photographer to find the best light, who I guess knows best). I went with a bold pattern and bright colours for this outfit and I love how it turned out. I always have fun styling this skirt, first worn here with a floral top and here with a floppy hat. I'm hoping to transition it into the fall months as well with a pair of tights and a sweater. What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe to style?

fashionable forest stroll

Dress, Aritzia | Jacket, Urban Behaviour
Wedges, Blowfish | Purse, Aldo | Belt, Nine West

A little cream dress and a military jacket, complete with lace-up wedges, might not be the best attire for a forest stroll, but I braved the dirt and bugs for a fun photoshoot a couple weeks ago. I've been a bad blogger I know (forgive me!) but I'm back, starting... Now! I know I've said that before, but this time I mean it. It's back to school, back to blogging, and back to being a busy, busy girl. A piece of exciting news: I recently applied for an internship with The Cultch, a contemporary arts theatre downtown, and I start next week! I feel so blessed for this opportunity.

Is anyone else as frustrated as I am that Vancouver decided to have a heat wave on the first week back to reality? I did end up at the beach at least once to enjoy this amazing sunshine we've been having. I hear it might last all month! I hope all the returning students start the second week of classes on a good note - I know I have! Happy Monday everyone.
