take the time to relax

Sweater and shorts, H&M | Silk Blouse, Club Monaco

I've realized recently that I don't relax enough. Anyone else have that problem? With school, work, interning, family, friends, my boyfriend, my blog... it's amazing that I have time to breathe! What I do love about my commute to work is that I get a whole hour to read the paper or a magazine on the skytrain. I think saying in touch with current events and what's happening in the world is really important - as is taking the time to just sit and not worry about anything for a little while. My patio is one of my favourite spaces in my parent's house to just sit and enjoy life - so take a little time for yourself today on this beautiful Tuesday in Vancouver!

h&m metrotown launch

Wednesday was the much anticipated opening of the H&M location in Metropolis at Metrotown, and it definitely did not disappoint! Organized by LJ PR, the event was full of Vancouver's most fashionable people; there were many familiar faces that I was excited to finally meet. With appies from OPUS and a glass of wine in hand, I had the best time shopping and chatting. Even with a 20% discount on the entire store, I walked out with a single item - an adorable heart-printed blouse - even though I was swooning over a gray embellished blazer from the newly launched Conscious Collection. Talk about living on a student budget! Thanks to H&M and LJ PR for putting on a fabulous event!

family equals happiness

[ fall dining room decor. ]

On Saturday night my family had Thanksgiving dinner, and it made me extremely grateful for the amazing people in my life. I love the buzz of conversation, the anticipation over the delicious food, and all the stories that are shared. Having Monday off was definitely needed (aren't long weekends the best?) because midterms are coming up fast. I can't believe I'm halfway done my semester already... where does the time go? Have a happy Tuesday everyone, and I hope all my fellow Canadian's had an amazing Thanksgiving.

feeling thankful

Happy Thanksgiving Canada! What I'm thankful for this year, like every year, is the health and happiness of the amazing people I have in my life. My family usually does a massive turkey dinner every year, but my grandpa is in the hospital this weekend, so we're keeping it small. It's really hard when someone so close to you is sick over the holidays. It just makes me so thankful for the memories I've shared and have yet to share with loved ones.

These trousers with a cream blouse is easily one of my favourite outfits for fall. I originally wore it out for dinner on my birthday, and now I've recreated it a couple times for the office and school. Catching the last glimpses of light, Andrew snapped a few shots of me on the new pedestrian bridge over the highway. I love how they turned out. Also, a close up of my new watch which I raved about here!

a delicious piece of arm candy

Meet my new favourite piece of arm candy, the MICHAEL Michael Kors Two-Tone Crystal watch. It is safe to say that I am completely and utterly in love with it. Courtesy of my Mom, who always knows how to pick out something perfect for my birthday. It's sparkly, beautiful, and my favourite shade of rose gold. I've never been a big bracelet wearer, but my tastes are definitely changing, and I've come to love having the time just a quick glance away. I've been gathering so much inspiration from the fashion week street style: here are some of my favourite looks found on Style.com.

P.S. I think we're all overdue for a long weekend. I hope you all relax, eat a lot of turkey, and enjoy time with your family!

shake that bootie

I can't get enough of lace-up booties right now! I am on the hunt for the perfect pair, and this is my worthy list of candidates. I also love the different ways these booties can be worn, demonstrated by a few well-known faces. They look so great with a military-style jacket, jeans, or even a great dress. Versatility FTW! Pssst... I know the Sam Edelman's aren't the most practical, but I love myself a little leopard print. If you have any suggestions on where to find a great pair, definitely let me know!

these boots are made for walking

Blouse, Sparkle & Fade | Dress as skirt, H&M | Boots, Aldo

I will admit, like many fashionista's out there, I have an obsession with boots. Short, knee-high, over the knee, booties, a high heel, a flat heel... any kind, I love. My newest pair is the Buro boot from Aldo, an over-the-knee riding style in a great cognac shade. I love the slightly rounded toe as I can dress these babies up with a skirt, blouse and tights, or down with jeans and a blazer. Just a few photos we snapped on a drive home from Whistler, again in my favourite hat. I wish I could wear it all year round, but sadly I'll have to retire it for fall. Happy Wednesday everyone!
