polished blazer

AS WITH MOST fashion bloggers, we have slight shopping addictions. And I use slight in the most sarcastic way possible. You can't deny it, friends! I am also one who loves to shop, but I also love a good deal. When I spotted a similar blazer to this one (at a store that is usually a tad out of my price range) I was so close to buying it. I loved the structure, the length, and the black-accented lapels - I was already creating multiple outfits that I could wear it with. Not to mention I was also conveniently ignoring the fact that I already own about seven blazers in a variety of styles and colours.

But of course, I can justify anything. My most overused phrase when shopping is "It's for the sake of the blog!" And so, when I waltzed into H&M with a few friends and saw this beauty just hanging by itself between a few other random pieces, I was delighted. Just as beautiful, but without the hefty price tag. So although I love to shop, I can at least say that I am a smart shopper. Ha.

pink sunshine

THERE IS SOMETHING so carefree and comfortable about throwing on a great pair of jean shorts and a simple sweater. I've had this bulky, off-the-shoulder number from H&M since last year and I rarely ever wear it out of the house. Yet, when I tucked it into these high waisted shorts from Zara and paired it with a bold lip colour and neon satchel, it was a done deal. Variations of this outfit was all I was wearing for my weekend getaway to Whistler which I spent with the boy - so nice to have a little R&R before school gets really hectic. Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

chambray and colour

I WAS RECENTLY cleaning out my closet and came across this chambray skirt that I purchased a couple years back. I love when I find a piece I'd forgotten about and remix it with my current wardrobe - something old becomes new again. Styled with a bright blouse, a floppy hat, and wedges gave it a country-esque feel that I wasn't exactly going for, but ended up being perfect for the open field background and dimming sunlight. As well, aren't these Not Rated Mix Up wedges so fun?! Super high and uber-comfortable, I've been incorporating these open-toed beauties in a few casual daytime outfits to add a bit of colour. Make sure to embrace colour this Springtime - I know I am! I purchased this fabulous Joe Fresh lime-green blouse that I can't wait to show you all. Have a lovely Wednesday!

a night of fashion

A FEW WEEKS ago I was asked to be a featured blogger at A Night of Fashion held at the Morgan Crossing Shopping District in South Surrey. I was offered a complimentary blo-out from Blo Blow Dry Bar and it was so nice to be pampered. I'm not one to backcomb my hair, but wow, did I leave there with volume!  What a great option for perfect hair before an event or party, I absolutely loved it. Between two fashion shows, chatting with Monika from The Doctors Closet, and meeting the girls from Muse Social Fashion House, the night was a great success. Thanks to Caylen, Trevor, and Morgan Crossing for hosting the event!

insta-lunch date

I AM OFFICIALLY being a lazy blogger. Or just a forgetful one. I meant to bring my camera out on a lunch date with the boy to Granville Island but I left it in the truck (typical). So, I improvised and did the next best thing - instagrammed everything! And it was such a beautiful day out, the perfect temperature to wear my favourite coral Madewell trousers. We ate at Go Fish, the delicious little seafood shack at the Fishermen's Wharf, and then got coffees and walked around. These past few weekends of sunshine have given us Vancouverites a taste of summer weather... and I never want it to leave! Hopefully you all have time to soak up a few rays today to beat those Monday blues.

for you, mama

I AM CONSTANTLY in awe of my mother. She is so beautiful, and has this endless strength to deal with any situation that comes her way. She is the most selfless person I've ever known. I am so blessed to have a beautiful, inspiring woman to look up to and I only hope that I can be as motivated and confident as she is when I am her age. So thank you Mom, for passing down to me the same dark features and wild curly hair, and your impeccable taste in fashion. Thank you for always being there for me, whether it's telling me the hard truth or giving me a shoulder to cry on. Love you, always. Happy Mother's Day.

stroll through soho

OKAY, THIS IS the last of my New York photos that I've been dying to share with you all, just way too busy to edit them (bad excuse, I know... I'm a procrastinator like no other). Our flight left later in the evening so we took the time to walk around SoHo and do a bit of shopping. The old-style architecture and the bustling atmosphere made for a perfect morning, and the sun was shining once again. I bought a new pair of Steven by Steve Madden boots and a few other goodies from H&M, J.Crew and Madewell. I honestly can't wait to go back to this city... All of you who frequent New York City regularly, or who happen to be the lucky ones who live there, I am so incredibly envious. Please realize how lucky you are! Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone.

east coast paparazzi

I KNOW, two casual outfits in a rowsort of boring! But you can't go wrong with a striped top and skinnys. As you can see, these J Brand jeans get a lot of wear. But my photographer is currently out of town and I still have all these great pictures to share with you from my trip to New York. On our second day on the East Coast, we drove down to Connecticut to visit the Cycling Sports Group head office, the company Andrew works for. We took a little detour through all the surrounding cities and stopped at this beautiful park in Bridgeport. I had so much fun taking photos on this trip, both of us were glued to our cameras! The weather happened to be beautiful (yet windy) and Andrew took some great candid shots. We are such tourists, ha. Have a lovely Friday everyone!

casually dressed

IT'S WEDNESDAY, and I'm feeling casual. This is my typical outfit when I'm out running errands or seeing friends for lunch. These J Brand jeans have been worn a ridiculous amount, and I'm starting to think it's about time I invested in another pair. As well as some boyfriend jeansseeing other fashion bloggers sporting them with a blouse and sunnies makes me crave Spring weather. Vancouver is playing tricks on us here on the West Coast with doses of sunshine and then buckets of rain. Sigh. I can't wait for the days that I can actually wear a printed dress, slip on a pair of sandals, and leave my house sans jacket. I envy all of you in California right now!

P.S. Three Stones Clothing, the company I work for, is hosting a giveaway on their Facebook page for a gorgeous jacket worth $200! It's water-resistant and beautifully made. Head on over and enter!
