nye sparkle

What girl doesn't love a little bit of tulle? Paired with sequins, it makes such a fun combination for a last minute New Years Eve outfit. I'm keeping it low key this year but that doesn't mean I can't have a little sparkle in my outfit! So celebrate the final day of the year in whichever style you feel most comfortable in, whether it's a sequin party dress, or pajamas and a glass of champagne. Wishing you all the best in the new year  it's a brand new start! Cheers to 2014, what I feel is going to be an amazing year.

everyday wear

I can't believe that 2013 is already coming to a close! What a year it has been, with incredible memories and accomplishments. I had brunch with my lovely friend Kelly the other day and we reflected on the year and what new plans we have for 2014. She is always someone who inspires me to be more creative and to believe in my work. And how incredible is her photography? We snapped these shots and I love how they turned out. Sometimes I glorify my outfits with heels (guilty) and it's really nice to feature my everyday wear  a loose top, flats, and comfy jeggings. And, a recent addition is my beautiful BCBG Maxazria purse, a Christmas gift from the boy. So here's to a simple outfit post every once in a while :) Hope you all have a happy Monday! xo

fresh in neon

I flew home for the holidays this week and the time change completely threw me off. I've never felt true jet lag before, and as a night owl/not-a-morning-person, falling asleep at 9pm and waking up at 6am was a weird feeling. So I'm blaming that for the lack of posts this week! I'm finally settling in though, and this morning I woke up to a beautiful snowfall. Vancouver hasn't had snow like this in a while and it's such a sight. I have my annual Christmas party with nine of my girlfriends from high school tonight, and what a perfect way to start the holiday gift-giving than with a winter wonderland outside.

I wore this outfit the other day and I kind of love how preppy and girly it is, a deviation from my usual jeans and wool coat. This Jorge floral skirt c/o Surfdome paired perfectly with my cozy Joe Fresh knit toque. So enjoy the snow fellow Vancouverites, and happy Friday! xo

crustless spinach feta quiche

I've been trying out some new recipes in the kitchen lately and I was so happy with how this quiche turned out. Usually I try to base my food experiments with what I have on hand, and with an abundance of spinach (the never-ending bag of spinach is still around) and eggs, I decided a quiche would be a delicious option. I prefer mine without the crust, and next time I think I'll make it in a cupcake pan so they're bite sized. I used this recipe from Budget Bytes and made this on two separate occasions. The second time worked better for me  fluffier and lighter, due to my extra ingredients being drier and using a tad more milk.

This dish is perfect for a sunday morning brunch or a weeknight dinner, and it can be stored in the fridge to warm up for a snack. It can be made with spinach, asparagus, bacon, mushrooms, and so much more. The perfect excuse to use up any ingredients you have excess of in your fridge or pantry! It looks fancy and takes such minimal work  My favourite kind of recipe. Happy cooking friends. xo

large eggs
1/2 c. Unsweetened almond milk
1 c. Spinach, chopped (or frozen + drained)
1/2 c. Mushrooms, sliced
3 slices turkey bacon, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 c. feta cheese
To taste Salt & pepper

1) Preheat oven to 350° F. Lightly grease a 9-inch pie plate.
2) Sauté mushrooms and garlic in a bit of oil until moisture has evaporated.
3) Fill the bottom of the pie plate with spinach. Then layer cheese, bacon, & mushrooms.
* Make sure ingredients are as dry as possible.
4) Whisk together eggs, milk, salt & pepper until frothy. Pour into the pie plate over ingredients.
* Sprinkle more cheese on top.
5) Bake for 40-50 minutes until slightly browned on top and middle is cooked through.

Let sit for 15 minutes and serve!

catching sunlight

Driving around the other day we spotted this painted brick wall and knew we had to use the location for a photoshoot someday. We were lucky to catch the last moments of sunlight and I love how the images turned out. Also, I can't believe that it's already December! Christmas is coming up faster that I expected. This weekend was long and much needed, with Thanksgiving dinner, playing tourist in New York City, and feasting on yummy leftovers. We decided to skip out on Black Friday shopping but there were so many amazing deals it was tempting! Turkey coma was to blame. Hope all my American readers had an amazing holiday, and happy Tuesday! xo
